Zachary Chun's FIRST ladder!!!

SAT, 090418 @ 9:01AM
Hiya Zach. This photo is by far the most shocking shot ever. My jaw was still cracked wide open even after I took the shot. You were a few months past your second birthday and that, my boy, is a six foot aluminum ladder. I was busy working in the garage and didn't even notice you were even on the ladder until I turned around and found you almost at the top. I was so shocked, I ran to my camera and snapped this everlasting shot. I will never forget that day and I shall never, ever forget this most prized photo. You've got balls, my boy. I still can't figure out what you were so eagerly pointing down to. Maybe you were trying to tell me if I knew how far the floor was. I can't recall because I was stunned for anything else. I love this shot of you. Top five, for sure. And look, you're hanging on to your Buzz. How did you manage to climb a ladder holding your favorite toy? Wonderfully excellent. Good job, my boy. A++. How are you these days? I think about you and your sister daily and am hopeful that you guys both miss me just as much. Oh, here I go again. I was going to post negative words again, even though it's the truth. I'm guessing you dislike it, so let me continue on with my movie review thingy. I have a lot of time on my hands lately, so I've been spending quite a bit of time on them. I actually started databasing my entire collection with the columns, #, movie, IGIA, year, genre, star, co-star, and director. Of course I utilized the all powerful Excel filtering system so that I can access all movies made by a certain actor or director or genre. I learned about a director named Billy Wilder. That's not a name known by most people, but he was a superstar back in the days. I kept noticing his name for some of my favorite classics, so I did some research on this guy. Boy, oh boy, is he ever talented. He directed most of the best films from the Golden age or whatever age the 40s and 50s were. I picked up his name during a eulogy that Bruce Willis gives in a movie titled 'What Just Happened'. Hmmm. I know!
What Just Happened - IGIA8. This is a very insightful look into the crazy world of movie making here in Hollywood. Robert DeNiro is a powerful Hollywood producer that juggles a few movies by catering to the craziness of the different players while at the same time, juggles two ex-wives and all of the headaches that comes along with that whole mess. It was exaggerated insightfulness that is rare in other films. I believe an ex-producer wrote this film and it was somewhat autobiographical in that many of the situations are actual experiences that he's had to wrestle in his past. There is an all-star cast that supports DeNiros antics and it's very funny how everyone plays themselves. I give it extra praise because I'm such a fan of movies and the industry and this film shows all of the wonders and amazement. Catch it, you'll like it as well.
I know I'm suppose to do two, but I'm way, way behind and something just finished so I want to rap things up a bit. I promise to post links for those photo sets that uploaded way back when. Until then son, bye!

Our FIRST Dodger game, Zachary Chun.

TH, 090409 @ 12:15AM
Hiya Zach. Aww, don't you look cute in that photo. Check out how you're holding the cap too. Too cute. I love it. Well, this is a big post. Number 9-0. I think that was the reason why I was on edge about finally writing something. I wanted to be able to update, upload, and link to your .doc file. Hmm, let me see. Oh yeah. In case I didn't mention in the past, I added a html feature from daily motion a while back. It's caught my interest so much, that I actually spend time watching all of my favorite Wonder Woman episodes. I don't remember the storyline because I don't think I spoke English back then. I just remember gazing into Lynda Carter's eyes and thinking how beautiful she is. All guys have some star that they gawk. You probably don't have one yet, but you will. Mine was Lynda Carter which is why I favorited her and her shows. Believe it or not, the show was very hip and modern at the time. I laugh at it now, but back then, they did stuff on that show that was groundbreaking. Every stunt or special effect held me on the edge of my seat and I remember hollering for more. Times have changed so much since then. I actually remember some of the 'modern' stuff, like a push button telephone. Even the rotary ones too. I laugh every time they use a CB for their calls from a car, but back then, it was high-tek. I watch these episodes a lot differently than I did as a kid. I didn't have a basis to compare from as I do now, so I didn't analyze like I'm doing today. It was just a wonderful show that entertained me greatly. Anyways, watch them if you have hours and hours, or better yet, days and days to kill. In terms of IGIAs, I'd have to give it a IGIA6 for all the episodes. Again, it is very, very dated and you won't be able to reminisce and reflect like I can. Anyways.
Cassandra's Dream - IGIA8. This is the movie I was in the middle of yesterday. Since it is a Woody Allen film and yesterday's ratings were both of his films, I thought I'd include it here. This was a tough 8 to give because it's not at the caliber that most 8's are in. Rather, I edged it higher because of the performances given. Mainly, it was Colin Ferrel's performance that I give it an 8 and not a 7. His role here is very different from the character's he usually plays. In fact, it's the exact opposite. His actions in this film cause so much grief and guilt, that he is being strangled from within. I thought he always performed well as the ruthless, cold-hearted killer, but his fragile performance in this film is even more noteworthy. Ewen McGreggor's performance is not as extreme, but somewhat shares the characteristics of Colin's role. The ending was pleasantly shocking as well. It ties in well and as always, questions human traits and explores into a world we can only imagine.
In Bruge - IGIA8. I'm rating this film because Colin Ferrel is the exact opposite from the character in the film above. So much so, that I liked him just as much in this film, if that's possible. Bruge (pronounced 'rouge') is in Belgium and prior to this film, I had never even heard of the city. It's a funny topic because one character is madly in love with the city while another hates it for being so historic and ancient. It shows many of the wealth of the city and I rather enjoyed all of the scenes. The plot isn't all that rich, but there are enough twists and turns to keep the viewer interested. There are many funny scenes as well. Another world, with quirky humor. The language is very strong, so you'll definitely have to wait many, many years to watch it, but when you do, I hope you enjoy it in the many ways that I enjoyed it.
Anyways, that completes my 90th posting so I'll be able to copy-paste to your .doc file. It takes about an hour, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to do my usual routine. Until next time, bye..

I'm using your slideshow, Zachary Chun.

MON, 090406 @ 11:26PM
Hiya Zach. Rather than scrounging around for good photos to post, I decided to simply download your slide show and use those photos for the added images on postings. The ones there are good, so it'll be ok, OK? Anyways, the photo above is from Circus Circus in Las Vegas. I won that Spiderman for you and you were as happy as can be. I know I look happier than you and I probably was cuz I did something that made you happy. Just wanted to post this photo to start the slide show photo thing. I'll elaborate tomorrow. Have a nice day!
MON, 090406 @ 11:29PM

WED, 090408 @ 12:52AM
Oops. I just noticed now, after tomorrows posting (#89) that I was missing the actual body of the post for this day's post. Oops. Sorry. I'll need to fill in this post with something, and what better way than to add a rating or two.
Match Point - IGIA7. I was excited to see this film mainly because I'm such a tennis freak. It's my best sport and also the sport I like the best. After renting it, I found out that it was a Woody Allen film. It gets its title from the mere fact that the main character is an ex-tennis pro who no longer tours the circuit. That's about it in terms of its relevance to tennis. It's about a guy who gains favor to a wealthy British family and entangles him in whirlwind situations with all of the family members and the relationships that develops between everyone. It shows how the rich live in London and the many frailties that exist amongst them. They're people too. I can't be certain if the ending for this film is the ending that's got my brow raised high. I think it is. If it is, I would have to bump it up to an IGIA8 because it was so juicy and tense. It's one of those classic Allen tall tales that tells a story beautifully with clever and witty dialogue. You'll appreciate this filmmaker the more you watch his films because they are all similar in a way, but all so very different in content. I'm becoming a fan because he writes his films. Who cares how he chooses to live his personal life. Judging his work according to his personal lifestyle and choices is wrong and I refrain from it entirely. You should too.
Vicky Christina Barcelona - IGIA8. Scarlett Johanssen stars in this film as well. She's Woody Allen's 'protege', so to speak. They work well together and she does a fine job delivering his tales. I liked this film very much because it shows a side to Spain that only Woody can show. It also shows a side of the artistically challenged group of players that are constantly struggling for something they can't define. And of course, the questions that typically arise from relationships and its complications are emphasized to the extreme in this film. I am also a huge fan of Penelope Cruz not because she's so damn hot, but because she's the epitome of the wildly sexy Latina that all men desire. It wasn't the plot that receives kudos, but rather the characters because they are all so extremely convincing and believable. I really enjoyed this film because it was shot beautifully with direction and intent. Watch it and appreciate it.
I think that should make this posting acceptable, don't you think? Anyways, until next time...

I've finally caught up Zachary Ryan Chun! Yae!

FRI, 090327 @ 10:44PM
Hello Zach. I don't think I have a single photo of you with a picture with Santa Claus, even though it's me! The principal at Antioch asked me to be Santa that year because I'm always so giddy and happy. Oh course, I said. Anything for my boy! I went straight off into my Picasa Web Albums tab in my Firefox and as soon as I did, I realized I should link it for you. So...
http://picasaweb.google.com/Espinitombre/23839WalnutStTorrance#

Now I feel like going back to it to elaborate on the comments. Lol. I'm a rather funny chap, aren't I? Whew, this CPU restarted for some reason as I was writing this and I didn't lose a single word. Good for you, Blogger and your automated saving thingy. As I was saying, I'm going to go elaborate on the comments and add my two tomorrow. CYA!

TUE, 090331 @ 8:24AM
Good morning Zach. Oh, no! I'm behind again. Gosh darn it. I'm a head, darn it. It's kinda weird. I get excited about posting anything because it gives me a chance to somehow talk to you, but every time I do, I can't help feeling hateful to that animal for keeping us apart. It's a Catch-22. What does that mean? HW! I'm going to hurry up and ketchup again so that I can do my .doc file for the 90th posting. I don't know about you, but I'm excited about it and looking forward to it. Hmm, if I were caught up, should I have already posted it? Yes, I think so. Well, at least that reason give me incentive to hurry up and ketchup. Let me go back to my IGIAs.
Diehard - IGIA9. This is most definitely an adult action film so you should wait many, many years, but because it's such an important series of movies, I had to include them. This was the movie that made Bruce Willis the movie star he is today. Oh, BTW, when I was 15 or so, I saw him at the Palos Verdes Mall filming an episode of Moonlighting with Cybil Shephard. There is a scene in a series where Bruce Willis props up Cybil Shephard onto an escalator in order to escape from bad guys. She did the stunt herself, but there was a big problem. She was wearing a dress at the time, so as she slid down, her dress rode up and exposed her panties! Oh no! She twisted her ankle too when she landed. Ouch. Ooops. Excuse the tangent. Going back to my IGIA. This movie was very different from the action flicks back then because the hero was not fully in control most of the time. In fact, he was brutally victimized throughout the film, so we feel for him with every twist and turn. The entire film was based on a robbery, but there are enough twists and turns that'll make you sit on edge and shriek and clap. I really enjoyed this film in many ways. You can't miss it. Oh yeah, there is a scene when the cop receives the call about troubles at the Nagatomi building. He's buying Twinkies at a gas station, but when he steps out, he looks over to the building. Notice the gas prices back then. Wow. I caught it the fourth or fifth time I saw this classic. Just some food for thought.
Diehard II - IGIA8. Whenever a movie is so well made, it is very difficult to follow up with an ever better sequel. I think Godfather II is the only sequal that betters the original. Diehard II keeps pace with the action sequences, but the depth is lacking. Sure, McClain is at a disadvantage in this film as well, but he's not 'stuck' and alone as he is in the first film. There are some great action sequences that will drop your jaw many times however. It's a good film so long as you don't compare.
Diehard with a Vengeance - IGIA9. Just when you think the best has passed, they come up with an even better one! This is as good, if not better than the first film. This time however, he teams up with Samuel L. Jackson and their chemistry is what makes this film so worthwhile. They're on a quest to try and disarm a bomb at some school in New York. That's where McClain's a cop, BTW. This one is nail biting from beginning to end with enough humor to keep you very entertained. Don't miss it.
Diehard IV - IGIA8. Again, the producers were faced with the problem of trying to somehow outdo the previous movies. By itself, this is a good movie, but in comparison to those movies that came before it, it strikes out. There was also a modern approach to this one. They tried taking in some of the more modern technologies that McClain didn't want to understand. It was so advanced I sometimes had a hard time believing or understanding all of it myself. The one scene that stands out is the horrific crash in the tunnel. I wowed several times afterwards. And the fighting with the Asian chick. Good shiznit. Anyways, consider the Diehard series one of the few sequels that you have to watch. Bye for now!

Zachary Chun and his two cousins.

FRI, 090327 @ 5:27AM
Hello again, son. I had this photo waiting in the wings for too long, so I'm posting it before I'm ready. I'll have finally caught up today and I promise to do a play by play of the Walnut slide show. Until then, ciao.
FRI, 090327 @ 5:29AM

FRI, 090327 @ 10:11PM
Hello again and again, Zach. I know I promised you a play by play of the front yard project on Walnut, but there was a difficulty that would affect us both. First, it would be very difficult for me to index and refer to the photo I want to comment on. On that same note, you would find it difficult to know what it was I was talking about. SO, I just decided to add a comment in my Picasa online album to squash this issue. I wanted to write something for every photo, so it's somewhat on the slim side ATM. I'll refer back to it and elaborate on those photos that could use additional comments. I'm treating this this thing with extreme priority because it was a huge undertaking that produced more than expected results. I was thinking my efforts would grant me a B+, but the end result was actually a full blown A++. I am very proud of my very first home project in which the home was mine. I have photos of other projects as well and I'll be sharing those with you later on. There are about 8 or so photo set links I could use, but I'm so into this movie review thing ATM that I think I'll continue on. Probably because I'm still playing ketchup. This is TH's posting, isn't it? Anyways.
Kung Fu Panda - IGIA7. Kung-fu is one of my favorite genres, top 5, and this movie incorporates that with computer animation that is top notch. CGI, I believe? HW! There was somewhat of an over-attempt at humor and it only worked on a few occasions. I think about the only reoccurring funny thing was the fat Panda that kept falling on his big behind. I am not one who takes this genre over the top. Meaning, I don't frown or curse whenever I see lightfoot in action or whenever two enemies are flying about. I believe all this to be true, or at least, I wish it so much to be true that I want to believe it. So, based on my personal opinions and beliefs, poking fun at the whole kung-fu genre doesn't sit well with me. The Chinese can fly, damn it! I guess personal beliefs and preferences really impacts one's rating of movies. For example, my most despised genre is horror. I hate being scared and watching gore on film. That being said, I wouldn't give any horror flick anything over a 6. Hmm. This is a rather interesting concept I've just really put my finger on. This is true across the board for everyone. A top notch American critic could never give any Korean movie the type of rating I would give because I understand it better. Hmm. Very interesting. A critics' opinions and preferences matter whenever a rating system is taken into consideration because there is a lot of bias towards the final score. HMMM. How very neat and interesting? Never really spelled it out like this before. I sort of came to this conclusion because of member reviews on Netflix, I think. There is a 'percentage similar to you' feature that rates raters according to my tastes. Sub-consciously, I think I placed more importance on those reviews from raters with similar taste. I'l try to keep this in mind and share with you my opinions on certain subjects and topics. Nice. Anyways, because I've babbled on so, I think we're OK with just this one review. Bye for now!

I promise I wasn't tickling you Zachary Chun.

TH, 090326 @ 8:49AM
Hello Zach. I just wanted to make sure this image was added and published because it completes the set. You are so genuinely happy, as I was. I think this is my favorite set of photos with you. Yeah, I'm sure of it. I'll check back with you later to do my two. Bye!
TH, 090326 @ 8:51AM

FRI, 090327 @ 4:52AM
Good Morning to you, Zach. How was your week? I suppose I should start with some announcements. First, today is the day that I added the slide show for 23839 Walnut St in Torrance. I came across my 'homes' folder and there was this very special set. I'm so proud of it that I had to share it with you. It took over a year for me to complete and I couldn't have been happier with the result. It definitely deserves a play by play so I'll do one soon. Probably on tomorrows posting. The other thing I wanted to share was the fact that people all over the world are inadvertently coming across this blog. One guy did some weird search with the word 'Samoa' in it and you know how I love using it. There were about 10 international visitors of the past 100. Very interesting. It's telling me that the body of this blog matters in terms of search results. Maybe I should start using keywords like Ben-10 or Bakugan in my postings. That way, you'll run across me whenever you do any Google search. I doubt 'Zachary Ryan Chun' will be your very first Google. I should guess all of the different words you may search for and include them into the body of this blog in order to increase our chances of finally meeting. That's a pretty huge task, I must say. Bakugan. Ben-10. Spiderman. LOL. I could do this for days and days. Anyways, thought I'd throw that in. I believe I left off at Hero...
Indiscreet - IGIA8. This movie stars two of my favorite classic actors, Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. It can be considered a period piece because it shows how things were back in the '50s. However, when it was made and released, it was very current, so it has become a period piece with time. This is a very important concept in movies. Only through movies, can we envision a time in history as best as we can. Reading history books can't relay such minor details such as mannerisms, speech, politeness, and so on. I have recently developed a huge favor towards 18th and 19th century England by viewing many of Jane Austen's novels made to movies. There was a distinct difference in class and the upper class was ridiculously lavished. There are dozens and dozens of films out there that shows how people dressed, how they talked, and how they related to one another in different places in different times. Going back to this review. Uh-hum, sorry. Ingrid Bergman is a famous movie star who is having a difficult time settling down with someone because of her fame and wealth. Cary Grant is a world-renowned diplomat that steals her heart. Because of her status, she's cautious and suspicious. The beauty of this film is its delivery of lost innocence. People were so innocent and classy then. Their mere dialogue presents a mysterious level of innocence unheard of these days. I loved this movie for doing just that. What was proper then and how people were treated and treating others is something totally different from how things are now. You'll enjoy this as much as I did because it is a classy classic.
Juno - IGIA7. Ironically, this movie is similar to Indiscreet but at the same time, completely different on many levels. Teenage pregnancy was unheard of back then, but in today's culture, it is something that is widely addressed and discussed. So much so that a movie about the subject was made. This film is about a teenager who decides to give up her baby to a wanting couple who has been having difficulties conceiving their own. It is a rather difficult subject matter even by today's standards, but they pull it off rather well. None of the cast members have ulterior motives and everyone is honest to the very end. It's a cute comedy that shows many of the follies and difficulties of adolescence and allows a teenager to tell the whole world that everything is 'OK'. Two very modern films that depicts the sign of the times. Funny. Until tomorrow, son. Bye! Oh yeah, kiss your sister for me today. I feel like a kiss. And hug yourself real hard for me and imagine with me that it's your old man spreading some love. Bye.

Bless you Zachary Chun.

TH, 090326 @ 8:21AM
Hello Zach. OMG, bless you! Oh no, you're going to sneeze! Everyone, look out! RUN! Can you believe the uploads still aren't finished? It's been over 12 hours. Oh, my. Anyways, whenever I have a bunch of images I want to add from my Picasa dropbox, I have this strange need to publish a post. I use to wonder about what I was going to pass the time with, but since I'm on this movie rating run, it's a breeze to step onto stage for my fifteen minutes of fame. That's a description that an artist by the name of Andy Warhol . He claimed that everyone has lived, or will experience, 15 minutes of fame. It's a widely used expression describing a person's 'chance' to shine. Anyways. Allow me to mosey on to my two flicks for the day.
Hulk - IGIA8. Finally, they were able to make a decent film about the Incredible Hulk. Oh, this is the one starring Edward Norton. There was an attempt like 10 years ago by Eric Bana but that one flat out splattered. I had to bump this one up a notch because the special effects are really, really good. Aside from being totally believable, they went way out in their attempts to show the jaw-dropped audience just how strong the Hulk really is. I also liked the fact that Bruce Banner, the human scientist that turns into the Hulk, was well portrayed as the loner, wondering scientist who is dead set on finding a cure. This little twist adds to the comic character's realism and also brings us, the audience, closer to him. This one should be watched in complete surround sound on Blu-Ray or high def.
Ice Age - IGIA7. Hmm. I wondered for a while about the details of the plot in order to write a decent review for this film. I just remember clearly that muscat-kinda animal and the woolly mammoth. The animation was top notch so the viewing experience was exceptional. There was some need to migrate somewhere for some reason. Whatever it was, it was the trip that made the movie fun. That reminds me of some other animations...
Shark Tale - IGIA8. There is a lot of satire in this star studded cast. Between every line is an innuendo towards something adult which gives all audiences something to laugh at. That's always a subtle key to a successful animation. There has to be just enough for everyone to bite on so that everyone can enjoy it. The plot has something to do with a shark slaying flounder who works at a Car Wash. It sounds funny, but it somehow works. I enjoyed watching this film and I think I'll enjoy it even more the second time around. That's a little secret for a select few films. Some movies are simply better the second time around. I think this qualifies. Anyways son, I wish you many happy days and I can't wait until I hug you and kiss you over and over. Bye for now!

Zachary Chun wants to kiss his Dad.

TH, 090326 @ 2:43AM
Hello my Zach. I went through a bunch of photos again and because I so love this photo session, I posted yet another picture from this day. I know, it's similar to the ones before, but who cares, right? Anyways. How are you doing? Fine, I hope. I would like to be there to help you through all of the difficulties of childhood, but your mother's an animal so she's keeping us apart. I just hope you'll make contact with me soon. I figured out an easy, useful labeling system for my rating scale. Oh, BTW, pronounce it ah-ghee-yah, like 'baby'. I-GI-A. Get it? Here's the easier, simple definition of my rating system.
IGIA0-6 - Don't bother.
IGIA7 - You can, if you want.
IGIA8 - You should watch it.
IGIA9 - You must watch it.
IGIA10 - You will watch it.
A lot easier, right? I thought this little descriptive scale would make it easier for you. Usually, rating systems are on a 1-5 scale, but in my book, because anything '10' is best, I went with the second set of fives. Anyways. Here are my two for the day. Oh, the photos coming up are under the file, 'Our Family Photos'. There are about 10 sets, and they're all being uploaded as we speak, and it should take like all night. I'll post those links tomorrow or so. Who knows.
House of Flying Daggers - IGIA7. I should know the Chinese director of some of these movies. I think this is the same guy that made 'Hero'. That'll be my next IGIA (ah-ghee-yah). This film is an on going adventure about a secret society of rebels starring Ziyi Zhang. Uh, I think I have her name right. There are many artistic fighting sequences that leaves the viewer in awe of the ancient Chinese secret of kung-fu. This is a break from traditional, uh, darn, I forgot what it's called when foreign films are translated...voice-over? Darn. HW! It show life back in the days, so the attire and cinematography is exceptionally well done. The plot isn't too memorable, but the fighting sequences are well shot and very pleasing to watch. You'll like this one, watch it.
Hero - IGIA8. One of Jet Li's top 3 best films. There is a scene in the calligraphy school with arrows that you will never, ever forget. Every last shot of this film was well planned and precisely executed. It's colorful, artsy, and glamorously flamboyant. Jet Li was at the peak of his game when he made this film, so every fight sequence is unbelievably shot to perfection. Don't miss this one, you'll love it as much as I do.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - IGI8. This movie came to mind when I was thinking about the director of these films, so I've included it here. I think this film was the most lucrative Chinese movie to be shown on US screens. It stars Chow Yun Fat and Ziyi Zhang. (You know what, I should know her name and be able to spell it correctly. BRB) Wow, I was spelling it right. Good for me. It also stars Michelle Yoo, a well-known kung-fu artist who's even made it to a Bond film. There are many memorable scenes in this movie. One is their use of 'lightfoot' as they chase each other on the rooftops. Oh, in case you don't know, the Chinese can fly. Then there is that sword fight on the bamboo trees. The plot is well written and you are constantly trying to flip the page as the plot thickens and develops. The same director probably did all three of these movies because they are so similar. Hmm. I wish I knew the director of these films. I should, you know. Oh, I know. HW! It's a fun one so turn that frown upside down, son. Anyways, I've overstayed my welcome today I believe. Until next time.

Zachary Chun is Spiderman!

WED, 090325 @ 2:00AM
Hiya Zach. This is one of those loose photos that I uploaded because you and I took it. I love every last picture I have with you. This was taken on your second Halloween when you were buffed out as Spiderman! I'm so much happier than you, can you tell? In my frantic rush to ketchup, I noticed, or rather forgot, that this is the 80th posting. You know what that means, right? Time to upgrade your .doc file. Yae! Well, I get excited over it because it is a true file that captures, or rather archives, all of these words and photos after a proper proofreading. Remember, I post the link to the .doc file the day after the commemorating post so that it's all inclusive, so you'll have to hold your horses until tomorrow. Allow me to continue on with my rating venture so that I can finally, finally ketchup.
The Devil Wears Prada - IGIA8. This is a comedy starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway that pokes fun of the illustrious world of fashion. Even though the characters, mainly Meryl Streep, is stretched to the limit, we can relate somewhat because there are enough references to our daily lives. The overbearing, unbelievable boss is someone we can all relate to. I found this movie very entertaining because of Meryl's portrayal of her character. Much kudos to her. There are questions of loyalty and devotion that are intriguingly brought up and the results of these factors are somewhat surprising to a certain extent. Rarely have I wanted to see more of a character as I did Meryl. She is the most celebrated, highest ranking actress, ever, by my book. She has played many different roles in dozens of movies and delivered in spades in every performance.
Finding Nemo - IGIA9. My favorite of all Pixar animations, even behind Toy Story. What makes this adventure wonderful is the fact that Nemo's father is on an ongoing, relentless quest to find his only son. This undertone carries with it a suspenseful desire for success all throughout the movie. There are so many supporting characters that lend to the success of this fantastic movie, from Dora, to the gnarly turtle dude, and even the fearful shark. Even though the outcome is a joyous event, I could watch this film over and over again to revel myself in the suspenseful adventure. I know you saw this film but I can't wait until we see it again someday so that we can discuss the many funny references and innuendos.
Well, that wraps up another ten fine postings. I'm really glad to have been able to find some sort of avenue of discussion away from all of the negativity. I think it makes a lot more sense that I rate and review movies beyond your abilities to enjoy them rather than bad mouthing your animal of a mother. Whenever I share with you my thoughts on the particular movie in question, I don't for a second think about the terrible situation that we're in. Escapism, if you will. Movies are somewhat recession-proof because they allow viewers to take a step outside of reality. That is what this is doing for me, and I hope for you. Anyways son, tomorrow, I shall update your .doc file and post the link after making all of the needed corrections. Til then, goodnight.

Our FIRST time in a pool, Zachary Chun.

WED, 090325 @ 12:24AM
Hiya Zach. I know, you're probably embarrassed by this photo, but it was the very FIRST time that we got into a pool together. It was during that trip up to Modesto, at the Hotel. It was and still is, a very special day, so just deal with it. You're probably at that age now where everything embarrasses you, but you'll have to accept the fact that your old man isn't phased by much in life. Anyways, I'm on a posting run, so I'm DLing all of these maybe photos that I uploaded to Picasa so that I can finally ketchup. Oh, BTW, I forgot to mention to you that my lack of daily postings was deteriorating your Google search results for whatever reason. Oh, I was shocked. At best, you were 1-8 on page one, but yesterday, you were only 1-2! Can you believe that. Oops. Just remembered I wasn't going to talk about that with you on these postings. Anyways, it was something that bothered me tremendously so I had to share even though I promised I wouldn't. I get a pass today, OK? Going back to my posting run...
The Bucket List - IGIA7. (I should lay down some ground rules here. You're only a kid now, so many of these movies won't appeal to you in any way. Kid movies are only a small fraction of the hundreds of good movies out there, so I'm going to rate adult movies too. This blog's going to exist forever and ever, so use the post label to sort out those postings with movie review that you can refer back to as an adult. Uh, was I clear? I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'll be recommending all movies and I'll just have to trust that you'll refrain from watching them until you're more age appropriate. Anyways.) This is the kind of movie that adults watch and enjoy because it does what every man or woman wants to do before they 'kick the bucket'. It was plesant in that it touches on many of those factors that both men and women oftentimes contemplate before its too late. Although the premise of the movie is that of death, it does take you on a rollercoaster ride of thrills that we can only imagine or watch in movies. I enjoyed it because it takes you away from the finallity and doom of death and celebrates the wonders of life. Definitely watch this one as a, adult in your 30s to realize and relate to all of the adventures.
Curse of the Golden Flower - IGIA9. By far, this has to be my favorite Chinese flick of all time. Reason number one is that it stars my two favorite Chinese actors. Chow Yun Fat and Gong Li. They are the Emperor and Empress of China during some dynasty in this fantastically cimagraphed epic drama. It didn't matter to me that many of the shots and scenes were elaborately egagerated to overplay the sights and sounds of the time. I am a fan of reality, but this melodrama, I accepted and enjoyed. The plot in itself is to be highly praised because it shows the life of the royalist of families and the tragedies that befall them. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and this is one that you cannot miss.

I found it Zachary Chun.

TUE, 090324 @ 11:52PM
Hello Zach. I'm still very troubled by the fact that these posting leave me feeling negative and angry. To fill the time, I watch a lot of movies. Then it occurred to me. Viola! I'll do mass movie reviews to finally catch up! Sound like a plan? Well, that's what I will be doing, so bear with me, OK? I'm gonna go through my DVD collection and pull out those movies I can recommend to you at your age now. See? Already I'm feeling chipper and uppidy because I'm not thinking about those damn animals. You ready? Here goes!
Oh, I forgot to mention that I'll be doing two reviews per post. I think it'll be long enough, don't you think? Anyways.
Bee Movie - IGIA8. This is Jerry Seinfeld's comical view over the world of bee's and the various roles and duties that they have. The premise of the movie seems rather simple and unattractive, but once you interpret all of the inner dialogue along with their many innuendos, it becomes a lot more appealing. So much so, in fact, I bumped this rating up a notch. There are more than enough effects to keep any child tuned, and the whimsical and insightful dialogue keeps any adult at bay with a constant smile. This movie touches on many, many factors in life. Family, love, honor, duty, etc. I think you'll enjoy it as a kid and enjoy it even more as an adult, as I have.
Big Bang Theory, Season One - IGIA9. This isn't a movie; it's a comedy on CBS. I was hesitant to choose my favorite sitcom of all time between Three's Company, Seinfeld, and Married with Children before this show came along. And here it is folks, the official announcement of my favorite sitcom of all time. The Big Bang Theory! There you have it folks. I think the biggest reason why I love this show so much is because I can relate to it more than any other show, ever. There are scenes in this sitcom that is so genuinely personal and funny that no one has ever been even close to touching base with me on these issues. On some nerdy tangent that the character's take, I find myself with my jaw dropped open because I say to myself, "Oh my God, I've done that too! Did I just hear right? Rewind it!". This little scene has occurred many, many times on many episodes. I guess you can say that this show talks to me in ways no other show has even come close to tapping into. Keep in mind that I love this sitcom primarily because it speaks to me on a very personal level, so you may not feel all of the wonders that I feel. Enjoy this series when you, too, have declared yourself a proud nerd and you'll feel me. OK?
Well, I think that's a pretty good start. I'll do Samoa and ketchup. CYA!

How old are you, Zachary Chun?

TUE, 090310 @ 12:41PM
Hiya Zach. The photo above was taken at Universal Studios. You wanted to ride in that baby cart, so I asked you how old you were. You proudly answered 3! Again, I'm very biased, but I love that picture of you. My greatest gift from this blog thus far has been the ability to look through the hundreds of folders to pull out the very best. Let me see...I know I don't have a folder set to post...I've depleted the 'Amusement Park' set...I suppose I could mosey on down and go to the next set of photos...or I could do something different. Hmm. What should I do today? I don't know yet. Lemmie give it some thought and get back to you, ok? Any time I see a good photo, I wanna publish a posting even though I don't have anything to talk about. That's what happened here. See? I'm babbling about nothing but still smiling because I managed to upload another great photo. Anyways, I'll TTYL!

Back again, Zach. I watched a rather unique movie last night, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you before my memories started to fade away.
7 Grand Masters - IGIA8. Of all the Chinese Kung-Fu movies I've seen to date, I can't think of another movie where the choreographed fight scenes were as vibrant and physically challenging as those in this film. Plot is the first thing to go in Kung-Fu movies. None of them have any sort of relevance or believability. Sometimes, they mock themselves for their lack of depth because it is a widely accepted practice. What makes a good Kung-Fu movie good, are the fight sequences. This movie delivers in spades in that department. From the very beginning, a Master scours the Chinese countryside in order to prove his designation as being the best by the king. He treks through hundreds of miles of countryside looking for and challenging other masters. He even picks up a new student on his journeys who later...well, you'll have to see for yourself. If you do watch this one, remember that the plot is crap, but I nudged an 8 because of the excellent, non-stop fight sequences.
Bye again.

Hi Zach. I've been checking the blog on and off to see what I could do...and...my answer is...not much. Oh wells. Every time I look over here, I'm curious about the search results so I end up opening up a new tab to do my order of searches. First, I google the web for 'Zachary Ryan Chun'. Then I switch it over to images. Next I remove 'Ryan' and repeat. Then I do 'Rachel Lauren Chun', images, minus the 'Lauren', then images. Finally, I do 'Jason T. Chun' and then 'Jason Chun'. Hmm, let me see... that's 12 Google searches in all. 'ZRC' has the strongest presence. I'm very pleased at the image results because I think you will do that search too. Today is the 70th day of 2009 so I'm eager to finish up this posting so that I can prepare my .doc file to upload tomorrow. So eager, in fact, I've already done most of it. I'm just missing this post and I'm up to about 155 pages already. Woo-Hoo! I'm so curious as to when you'll finally find me. I think I'll end up telling you about this blog before you 'run' into it online because it kills me to be away from you guys. The worst part is not knowing how you're doing. Your mother has a nightmare of a childhood because she was shuffled around from house to house and lived with strangers that took advantage of her. There is no way I want you guys to live through that shit because I am here for you. Your mother's father didn't care so she had to suffer like that, but I am on a mission to be there for you guys at every turn and at every corner. This is my start to making contact, but I have other tricks up my sleeve. Believe that. Anyways, I'm not in the mood to go off and write your mother an email because it'll get me down. Hang in there guys, I'll see you both very soon. Kisses.

Zachary Chun loves dinosaurs.

SAT, 090307 @ 11:04PM
Hiya Zach. I'm kinda posting this early because I wanted to give you some HW. Aww, don't be down, it'll be fun. On yesterday's posting, I noticed that the contrast was off a bit in the photo of us. HW! I want you to DL Picasa and use their photo correcting tools and save 5 different variations to make it better. This is important. Don't just make 5 any old variations such as B&W, sephia, etc. Try to make the photo better. Your corrections should be very slight, so I expect the 5 variations to differ slightly. Let me see...hmm...what was the other reason...oh, I forget. Oh yeah. Duh. Tonight, we have to set our clocks one hour ahead to observe Daylight Savings. The simple phrase to remember how to change it is, "spring forward, fall back". Easy, huh? Here's the hard part. When are Daylight Savings times observed? I'm not sure if it's the same time every year. It's your task to figure out when. Ok? HW! I promise I'll chills it with the HW for a while. Maybe not, we'll see. TTYL!
SAT, 090307 @ 11:11PM

SUN, 090308 @ 10:34PM
Hi Zach. Ouch, I read the above and that's a load and a half for a seven year old. Sorry. Tell you what, you have forever to complete your assignment. I think that's fair. I'm very careful to label all posts that have HW assignments so that I can sort by it and check to see if you've done your homework. He he he. This week has been all upside down, hasn't it? I wonder how such craziness reads. Oh yeah, a movie review.
The Game Plan - IGIA7. This is one of those movies where a rising star teams up with a no-name youngster to make him/herself more appealing to the general audience. I became a bigger fan of 'The Rock' after seeing this film because he was asked to perform way beyond his normal roles and attach himself to a daughter he never knew he had. Whereas the screenplay was atypically predictable and borderline corny at times, it does deliver in its attempt to make you feel good. It does a good job of playing the family flick that it was intended to be.
Consider IGIA7's worthy enough to spend your time watching. 8's should never be missed because it's something special. 9's are rare, so watch them for sure as soon as you can. And one movie, my favorite movie of all time, gets a IGIA10. What is it, you ask? I'll tell you when the time it right. Anyways. Lemmie go get a photo link first. It really does take 4 minutes for Mega Manager to run, so gonna go sweep. BRB.

This is a large file compared with the others. I'm sure there are many memorable photos from this set, but I'll wait 'til tomorrow to go through it and make notes. What I want to do now, is to create a list of 'Gifts' I've been acquiring for you guys. First, lemmie tell you about the Guitar Hero Beanies. You remember what pop tarts are, don't you? They're those cracker thingy's with jelly-like centers that you pop into a toaster. Anyhows, I've been getting them from Costco and noticed a certain 'deal' in every box. When you send in 5 proof's of purchases, they'll send you a cool beanie hat with 'Guitar Hero' embroidered on them. Thing is, a box from Costco only has 4 proof's of purchases. Darn. With my second purchase, I managed to mail in 5 for a free hat. I finally got it about 2 weeks ago and I gave it to your cousin, Thomas. Oh, did he love it. He played Guitar Hero on his DS for me once, so I knew he liked it. The hat was so cool, he wears it every day to school. I went to Costco twice since, and found out they don't sell pop tarts no more. Darn. Well, today, they all came over and the first thing Alec said was "did my hat come yet?". Double darn. I had 3 proof's left, and because they don't sell them anymore, I went ahead and wrote a check for $3.99. Then I said to myself. "You know, since Thomas likes it so much, I should get one for Zach." Then I thought, "I can't get one for Thomas, Alec, and Zach and not one for Rachel even though she's a girl". So, to finally cut the long story short, I mailed all 3 remaining proof's and sent away for 3 of them! My point is, There is a cool Guitar Hero Beenie Hat waiting for you. I hope you're not too old to wear it by the time we meet again. If you are, just remember it was a cool thing for youngsters. Ask Thomas and he'll tell you how cool it is. That's gift number one. Number two, are just some journals I bought for you and your sister last week. Yours is a Rhino Professional and Rachel got a faux leather journal. Resort these postings using the label 'Gifts' and ask for them when I see you. My greatest gift to you, and you only (sorry Rachel), is very special to me so I'll dedicate an entire post just to babble about that later. Oh yeah, I need to write your mother. BRB.

090308 email to your mother
I don't understand why you want me out of the lives of my children. They know who their father is and I am more than willing to have them in my lives. I haven't spoken with you about any of the wrongdoings you deny because I don't care about any of that. All I care about are my children and what you are doing to me, and us, is unforgivable. Why are you doing this to them? I will never stop in my attempts to be in their lives because I know they want me just as much as I want them. Pray to your God and ask for the right answer.

- Jason

LOL. I laugh every time I end a letter to your mother because this situation is ridiculous. My only satisfaction is that the longer she keeps us apart, the more you guys will hate her in the end. You won't be children forever and as adults, you'll realize what a horrific ordeal I am going through and also all that you've lost because of this ridiculous act. You'll eventually nod in understanding and agreement whenever I call her a damn animal. Her family too. They're all animals. I so don't want to continue whenever I speak of her. She's just like a pile of dog doo-doo. Dirty, smelly, and disgusting all over. Anyways, I'll try to keep these posts as lively as I can, but I can't promise you anything because of the severity of her damn actions. I love you Zach. TTYL.

Hey, hurry up Ketchup!

SAT, 090228 @ 11:53AM
Hiya Zachary Ryan Chun. Two tomatoes are rolling down a hill. One is fresh and firm, so it rolls quickly. The other is old and mushy, so it rolls slow. The fresh tomato turns to the other and says "Hey, hurry up Ketchup!". Not too funny, but I'm playing ketchup and I'm on schedule once again. How do you like the picture above? That's where everyone takes a photo when visiting Disneyland. They were celebrating their 50th birthday when we visited way back then, which is why you see the big 5-0 next to Mickey. I love you Zach. I love meaningful photos like this that signals a special moment. Anyways. I was so eager to add the image that I decided to post anything to get it up. Oooh, I'm thinking maybe I should have used this photo for my 50th posting?!? That would have been something else. Anyways. I'll post the name and link of the folder I zipped and encrypted later. I've been kinda lagging in terms of 'meaningful posts', so I'll come back later and maybe squeeze in a story. Anyways, son. TTYL!

Hello Zachary Ryan Chun. I figured out what I was going to babble to you about today. Before we get started, lemmie go ahead and post a link to a photo folder. BRB.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JCNBAJVB

Again, this was just another trip to Disneyland that I won't play by play because I get flustered and angry. It's for your viewing pleasure and it should further prove your mother wrong. Any photo I deem worthy I've been uploading to Picasa and adding to my postings. So, without further ado, drum roll, please...
I don't think I've mentioned to you about my recent memberships to Blockbuster Total Access and Netflix. You pay a monthly fee, and they send you, via postal mail, 3 DVD's at a time. It's given me the opportunity to watch some oldies, but goodies. Of all the different genres out there, my favorite is romantic comedy. Don't share that with anyone. I'm kinda embarrassed to admit it, but it's true. I get emotionally charged up the most whenever a good storyline leads to a happy ending between two people and they live happily ever after. Oh yeah, lemmie do this.
Serendipity - IGIA9. I loved this movie because throughout the entire film, the potentially unknown mystery about a hopeless romance is questioned. Two people who desire a special romance is letting fate and destiny determine their futures. Hints are constantly given as to why they should be together as well as why they aren't together and it is played like a philharmonic orchestra. I think my rating it's a bit biased because I love Kate Beckinsale. Anyways.
As I've been watching classics, I noticed a commonality that is very rare. Many of the movies were based on the novels by Jane Austin. She's some British novelist from way back. Her name is about all I know of her, besides her works. The movies in question are Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Persuasion, Emma,, and one other one that I can't quite recall ATM. The commonality is that these stories take place close to 200 years ago in Britain and they all somehow depict the lives of the privileged elite. Back then, marriages weren't performed out of love as it should be. Rather, it was a ceremony that allowed people to increase their rank in society. It wasn't as clearly defined and structured as are marriages for Asians. We know this to be arranged marriages. Parents play the role of matchmaker according to one's characteristics without any account for compatibility. Where one was educated, the careers of parents, and total worth was the calculated factors that determined a person's value of marriage. The Brits didn't have the audacity to straight out call them arranged marriages, but it was certainly practiced because one could not marry out of love. This is a very common, reoccurring theme in Jane Austin's work. In the most well known novel, Sense and Sensibility, believe it or not, I've watched four different versions! Two of which were mini-series, lasting close to seven hours. I've told Irene about this blog and I think she reads it. I mention this because her mother, Teresa and I, were trying to figure out where we knew the name Wiloughby from. We're still baffled, but in case you're reading this Irene, tell moms it's from Sense and Sensibility. Because there are four versions, I won't be able to do a IGIA on it. I just got through watching Mansfield Park, so...
Mansfield Park - IGIA9. This is a fantastic love story between two people who can't possibly be together forever. Society won't allow for their joining, so they venture off into two different relationships that seems to make sense. The tragedies of these undesired relationships further strengthen their love for one another. It has that flare of upper British society mixed in with the grief and despair of even the noblest of families. I fell in love with Franny because she was so genuinely real, regardless of what should and shouldn't be. The possible romance that can never be becomes a powerful theme that lingers on til the very end. This is a period piece that cannot be missed because it tells the truth behind how things were.
Emma - IGIA7. This is another one of Jane Austin's classic novels that eventually made it to film. Whereas Gwenith Paltrow's performance was spectacular, the comical and whimsical theme of love and marriage is downplayed too much for it to be cared for. Playing matchmaker and witnessing the flippant attitudes of its supporting cast just makes this film hard to truly engulf yourself in. Too many stories thin out meaning and eventually loses value.
I guess the purpose behind this post was to discuss these somewhat adult, period films. You'll have to be in your 20's to truly understand and appreciate these films, but it is somewhat important to me, so I thought I should share. It's somewhat difficult to understand in its entirety because of the use of Old English, but you'll appreciate how much language was emphasized and practiced. It's rare to find beauty in a spoken word these days, so merely listening to dialogue in these films is pleasant. Hmm. Maybe I should have saved this post for Rachel. Anyways son, parting is such a difficult task when in fact there are hours to be overcome so that we may visit once again. Huh?!? CYA!

That'll be all pig.

FRI, 090227 @ 5:56AM
Good morning, Zachary Ryan Chun. We're almost there to Friday (well technically, it is Friday since I'm posting this a wee bit late.) The photo above is from a display at Universal Studio's Tour celebrating the great movie, Babe. Look how you have your hands on him making him look like he has bangs. Ahh, that reminds me...
Babe - IGIA 9. This is a terrific movie that shows the wonders of the human spirit on many levels. The innocence of a baby pig questions how and why things are the way they are and makes us wonder about life and its quirky twists and turns. The humor and impossibility of a talking pig is dismissed as we dive into his life and all that surrounds him on a simple farm. It builds up to a sheep herding competition and of course, it has a fairy tale ending. A must see.
Hmm, that was a rather unexpected turn of events. I wasn't expecting to do a movie review. I see the photo and...WHAM! Anyways. I'm still on my Amusement Parks folder, so here's the link:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A07G79ZY

These family outings make it very difficult for me to do any sort of play by play. I guess I'm posting them for your viewing pleasure. Bah, humbug. I'm in a crappy mood. Til next time.

Another week passes and I haven't seen my kids.

TH, 090212 @ 10:58PM
Hello, Zachary Ryan Chun. The above is one of those token photo machines from Chuck E. Cheese's. I have another one when I show, but your shot here was far superior. I just got done finishing a copy of Snatch. Oh, darn. This is a R rated movie so me sharing anything about it here, now, is kinda wrong. Hmm. Maybe I'll simply jot down these movies and talk about them when appropriate. This is the final photo set that I had in your folder. The dates of the events are jumbled and there are a few, long videos to consider. Here are the folder names:
03 CHRISTMAS
07 MOVIES
2005-01, (Jan) ZRCs FIRST school picture
040316, Second Immunization shot, FIRST urinal
040516, A visit to Dad in the garage
050524, ZRC with the camera
050712, A picture from school wall
ZRC running through kitchen
031128 ZRC repeating words
PICT2153 ZRC Dinosaur Puzzle
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6NNEDZKA
The Christmas folder was an attempt to organize a subset. There are only two events in the folder, both heavily CANAed. Nothing worth mentioning here, I hate Christmas. I would love to explain to you both why when we are together again.
The Movie folder was another attempt like above. I have in it, a photo I snapped of you before our third movie outing. The Incredibles. Allow me to recap. Spiderman, Polar Express, and The Incredibles. Not a bad list, if I do say so myself. Oooh, here is the perfect chance.
Spiderman - IGIA8. The superb effects adds to the subtle human storyline and draws us deep into a life not as obviously blessed, as we may easily think it is.
Polar Express - IGIA7. Again, the effects were recognizable and mezemerizing. This movie, however, lacked the polish required to make a storyline meaningful.
The Incredibles - IGIA9. How can this be, you ask? Watch this movie a second, a third, and so on times, and you'll open your eyes to all of the attention it received. This is a very densly packed film that is delivering at every other line. The more you watch it, the more you'll appreciate it. Excellent movie.
Cool. This is a prelude to "Daddy, the movie critic". I will have to sort through my collection and introduce you to films I've had the chance to benefit from. And of course, I will block out any and all films I consider to be a complete waste of time. Where was I...oh yes, back to the photos.
2005-01 (Jan) ZRCs FIRST school picture
This is a very important folder for you because it has in it, your very FIRST class picture. Katie Choe, daughter to Tom and Margaret, is sitting to your left and the guy in the middle, back row, is son to some guy I think I know. Anyways, the photo I'm referring to is 'scan'. I think this entire folder was scanned for just this exact event.
scan0001 - This is our very FIRST Christmas photo as the four of us. Look how unhappy the both of you guys looked.
scan0002 - This is your FIRST class picture. You'll have the opportunity to take your photo at the end of every year. You should have one every year Zach. Oh, I forgot. I'll excuse the animal.
scan0005 - Some dude with a tablet PC had to freehand this photo of you at the Beverly Center. I can't give him any points for likeness since that picture looks nothing like you, but I can give him a tap on the back for speed and style. Something new, something different.
The rest of the images in this folder are of Thomas the Tank Engine. I think I scanned these pages so I could print them out and play with you.
040316 Second Immunization shot, FIRST urinal
I took you to some doctor's office for your second round of immunization shots. You did better than expected, and out of the blue, I snap a photo of you using your FIRST urinal. I think it was profoundly intereting to me at the time.
The rest of the files are these three video clips.
ZRC running through kitchen - Very short clip.
031128 ZRC repeating words - This is a Top 3, classic masterpiece. We were coming back from somewhere and your mother is asking you to repeat words you know. This is a wonderful clip of you being slick. I could watch this one forever and ever. You'll really like this one.
PICT2153 ZRC Dinosaur Puzzle - I filmed you throughout your entire venture to complete a dinosaure puzzle. Excuse me for the length, it couldn't be helped.
I have a drop box in Picasa that I refer to at the beginning of every post. Photos worthy enough for a posting added image, is uploaded when I organize and stored in my drop box. I have too many photos there, so I will be adding them to your slideshow. I haven't forgotten to do that collage of you loving cake. Look for it. I think with that, I can bid you adieu. O'var. (HW!)
